eDev is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit microenterprise development organization located in Eugene, Oregon. Our evolving mission is to provide business development services to both individuals who are wanting to either start a small business or to build their existing business and to communities that are wanting to economically strengthen and diversify their economies. We typically provide services to approximately 300 clients each year through one-on-one technical assistance or classes or access to capital. In 2008, we have taught classes in ten communities around Oregon including Eugene, Junction City, Veneta, Cottage Grove, Florence, McMinnville, Burns, La Grande, Warm Springs Indian Reservation, and Enterprise.
We help individual business with five or less employees that require $35,000 or less in start-up capital. Most of the individuals we serve are seeking self-employment. We also work with rural communities wanting to strengthen and diversify their economies.
eDev was started in 1998 as a collaborative program of Lane Community College, Saturday Market and O.U.R. Federal Credit Union. EDev (Lane MicroBusiness) formally organized itself as a 501(c) (3) non-profit in November 2003.
Program services fall into three categories:
- Training (classes, workshops, and peer groups)
- Technical Assistance (one-to-one counseling, business planning assistance, marketing assistance, and management assistance)
- Access to Capital (microloans, Individual Development Accounts)
